I was born in Glendale, California. My family moved several times within California. When I was 35, I moved to Gainesville, Florida. At the age of 42 I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where I lived until February of 2012. I moved to Greenville, where I now live with my wife and mother-in-law, to be close to family members as we age and increasingly need one another’s help and support. I call it “circling the wagons.”
Having two grown daughters from a previous marriage has sensitized my to the problems and issues associated with divorce, remarriage and step families. My wife and mother-in-law were born in Iran and immigrated to this country, which has taught me much about cross-cultural issues and diversity.
